Quick video (well, 11 minutes) that tries to grab some concept of why the Virgin Birth, as much as it’s maligned and discounted, was important to the formation of our concept of Jesus as both God AND Man.
Nothing too exceptional here but you can reference Kant, Origen, and other theologians for aspects of why this is important or not. I try to dispel at least Kant’s view of Christ as the exemplary ethical man while taking on a core Gnosticphilosophy of divided humanity and spirit. Comments are always welcome.
As an introductory post title goes, “The mystical in the mundane” is rather catchy, don’t you think? At the end of the day, people are intrigued by things that cause neurons to fire rapidly, that keep them guessing for the conclusion rather than providing the end at the beginning. While I won’t pretend to be a wordsmith to that end, I’ll simply note that I know that the journey to understanding and accepting the concept of a mystical “god” in the everyday drag of life is nothing short of…mundane. In this post, I’d like to start that journey with you and, as a very wise man said, “[We're] just beggars telling other beggars where to find bread.”
